  • What is my first step in obtaining an occupational license?
    The first step is find out if the location is permitted.

  • Where can I find out if my business is permitted in the location I have chosen?
    You can call our Planning Department at 305-883-8075. All you have to ask is if my business is allowed at this location.

  • How long does an Occupational License take to process?
    It takes approximately 2 weeks to process a license.

  • What do I need to bring with me to apply for an Occupational License?
    You need to bring with you a driver’s license or some form of ID and if your company is a corporation you the Articles of Corporation. Also if you are in a profession that requires a State license, you need to bring your State License (ex. Doctor- State License, Beauty Salon –State License)

  • What is the difference between an Occupational License and a Certificate of Occupancy?
    An occupational license is a license, which permits you to operate your business within the city limits. An Certificate of Occupancy is issued to both commercial and residential when the building is brand new and just finished being built and has never been occupied.
